Admission for Chadian students

Guidance for Chadian students and families, including the translation step that francophone applicants must plan for.

Translation is an extra step for francophone applicants

If your certificates are in French, most Egyptian universities will require certified translation into Arabic or English. This is an additional step in both time and cost that anglophone applicants do not face, and it is worth starting early.

Certified translation means a translator the university will accept — not a friend with good French. Confirm what the university requires before paying for a translation.

There is no single checklist that fits every university

Requirements differ between institutions, between faculties within the same institution, between degree levels and between nationalities. Use this guide to prepare, then confirm the exact requirement with each university on your shortlist before you rely on it.

The baccalauréat

The Chadian baccalauréat is assessed against each university's equivalency rules. Which série you took and your results in the subjects relevant to your intended faculty both matter.

Language of instruction

Egyptian universities teach in Arabic and English. French-taught programmes exist but are limited. Students who studied in French should be realistic about the language transition required, and plan for it — a language course before or alongside the first year is often the difference between coping and struggling.

Documents usually involved

  • Valid passport
  • Baccalauréat certificate and relevé de notes
  • Certified translation of French-language documents
  • Birth certificate
  • Passport photographs to specification
  • Authentication or legalisation, where required
